Fishing Report 7.4.11

Flounder fishing is inconsistent in the Buoy 42/Cell area. We did weigh two citations this week from that area. Some anglers have had near limit catches while others struggle.Cobia are being caught at York Spit on live eels and should be available in the Silver Beach area by now.

Croaker and spot fishing has been good in the Piankatank, around Gwynn Island and in the creeks. They continue biting bloodworms, squid and FishBites.

There are spadefish at Wolftrap and the Cell but no citation fish reported. In fact, as of 6/29, there had been only one citation spadefish caught state-wide.

We registered three citation fish this week.

Flounder, 26", 8 lbs, 0 oz. caught 7/3 by Christopher Kidd of Dutton near Buoy 42 while jigging a lure.

Flounder, 25".5", 7 lbs, 3 oz. caught 7/2 on a flounder rig by Grady Baker of Hayes

Dolphin, 55" (total length), 29 lbs, 5 oz, caught 7/3 on a lure at Norfolk Canyon by Zach Dye of Gloucester

Tight lines,

Jerry
