VIRGINIA BEACH -- The Military Aviation Museum will hold its first "Warbirds and Wings" Aviation Summer Day Camp from August 1-5 and August 15-19.
Kids will spend the week at the Virginia Beach airport amid the largest private collection of vintage and reproduction aircraft in the world. They'll get an up-close view of World War I and II fighters, bombers, seaplanes and more.
Children will also be taught the fundamentals of flight and how different factors affect flight, such as lift, drag, thrust and weight. They'll test that knowledge in building gliders and a model airplane.
The basics of rocketry is another "chapter," and yes, you get to build and launch your own model rocket.
All this, plus two field trips -- one to the Virginia Air and Space Center and one to the museum's own Fighter Factory.
This camp is for kids 9-14, It will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and the cost is $175 per child.
