Adm. Mike Mullen
Adm. Mike Mullen, the outgoing chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is worried about the growing gap between our military community and the public at large. Simply put, he's not sure civilians realize how much the military (including military families) have been through.
In an interview with Time magazine's Battleland blog (which I recommend) Mullen says the following:
"Long term, if the military drifts away from its people in this country, that is a catastrophic outcome we as a country can't tolerate, can't afford, in no way,"
Mullen was responding to a question from Battleland's Mark Thompson about the mental health challenges facing troops who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan.
Check out the entire Battleland post.
