It never hurts to keep an eye on China's military might. Rep. Randy Forbes, R-Chesapeake, has made this a special focus, often reminding his colleagues and the public about the latest developments.
But now that China is set to debut its first aircraft carrier, one report suggests we shouldn't be hyper-ventilating just yet.
In a report headlined "Relax: China's First Aircraft Carrier is a Piece of Junk," writer David Axe of Wired suggests .. well, the headline kind of tells the story.
The carrier's engines are suspect. It's air wing isn't nearly as powerful or versatile as what can be found at Oceana Naval Air Station. It doesn't have the kind of escorts that are includded in a U.S. carrier task force. And it doesn't communicate as well.
Other than that, we're pretty much equal.
Not to say that China doesn't present an emerging threat, but this does shed some light on what the short-term future may look like.
China's newest rust bucket? Read it and let us know.
